Use case: currencies

When your money lives in three currencies at once

After a move, money splits in two, then in three: rent here, subscriptions there, family support in a third currency. Finance Flow 365 fixes every entry at the rate of its own date, and the big picture stops drifting with every rate swing.

Why multi-currency life breaks any tracker

While everything is in one currency, tracking is just addition. After a move, addition ends: rent in the local currency, old subscriptions still charging the old card, transfers to your parents in a third. To answer “what did I spend this month” you have to convert everything into something. Into what, and at which rate?

The naive answer, “today’s rate”, collapses within a week. The rate moves and your past totals suddenly change, although you have not spent a cent. September, which was frugal, retroactively becomes wasteful. Trust in your own numbers dies at exactly this moment.

Head math, “that is roughly this much in normal money”, works even worse. The rate in your head is always stale, the rounding always leans the convenient way, and six months later the gap between feeling and reality is embarrassing.

So people end up keeping three parallel lists, or nothing at all. Both end the same way: “can I afford this” gets decided by eye.

Karina’s story

Karina is 36 and moved to another country two years ago. Her money life after the move looked like this: rent and groceries in the local currency, salary partly too, but subscriptions, a domain and a couple of services kept charging the old card in the old currency. Plus a monthly transfer to her parents in a third one.

Every month she honestly tried to squeeze it into one number. Open the converter, translate at the current rate, write it down. Next month the rate drifted and the old records stopped matching the bank statements. Twice she recalculated everything from scratch, then gave up: the exercise was pointless and endless.

In Finance Flow 365 she simply logs expenses in whatever currency they happened in. The service fixes each entry at the rate of its transaction date, in every currency Karina tracks. The September transfer to her parents costs forever what it cost in September; no rate swing will rewrite it.

She reads her totals in the local currency, because that is the one she thinks in now. Rent, the old card’s subscriptions, the transfers: one picture, one currency, an honest history.

A composite story; details changed.

What Finance Flow 365 does here

More than 160 currencies

Log expenses in the currency you actually paid in. You can track several currencies at once: from one on Free up to nine on Pro, and no limit on Full.

The rate of the transaction date

Every entry is fixed immediately in all tracked currencies at the historical rate of its own day. Not today’s rate, not a monthly average: the rate of the day you paid.

The past is never rewritten

A rate swing does not touch past totals. A frugal September stays frugal forever, and bank statements keep matching your records. This is a rule, not a setting.

No rounding losses

Amounts are stored and added precisely. Cents do not leak away in conversions, so the yearly total adds up to the last digit.

What changed for Karina

The monthly converter ritual died of natural causes. Karina logs expenses in their native currencies and reads the total in her local one. Past months do not drift, statements match, nothing needs recalculating.

There was a concrete find too: the old card’s subscriptions, which “cost pennies” at the rate in her head, turned out to be a visible line at the honest rate. She cancelled two and moved the rest to the local card, so they now show up in her main currency.

  • All currencies in one picture
  • Totals survive rate swings
  • The converter is retired
  • Statements match the records

Common questions

Which rate is used for my expenses?

The rate of the transaction date. An entry is fixed in all tracked currencies at the moment it is created and never depends on later rate movements.

What happens to past totals if the rate jumps?

Nothing. Past totals are never recalculated retroactively: every entry keeps the amounts at its own day’s rate. Only future entries are affected, because they will get their own rate.

How many currencies can I track at once?

Depends on the plan: one on Free, three on Plus, nine on Pro, no limit on Full. This does not limit the currency of an entry: you can pay in any of 160+ currencies.
